SoundSync Music is a woman-owned boutique music licensing & sound design agency that applies local creative forces to unite sound and vision.

Our purpose is to unite sound & vision.

Our Philosophy

As a quality-driven company with a strong focus on developing the local creative community, we partner only with the best—from the local musicians we discover and develop, to our clients who appreciate the value in including Austin music in their projects. We have a human approach to music curation and design, and we offer our customers, partners, artists, and local community our dedicated time and focus, a fresh but trusted perspective on music licensing informed by 8+ years of industry experience, and our arms wide open to industry newcomers.

Core Values — Texan AF.

Hyperlocal

We like to keep it in the family. We have a contagious passion, energy, and tenacity that helps us honor our commitment to building, sustaining, and growing a hyperlocal & creative culture in the community in Austin & beyond.

Good People

We are storytellers who are deeply committed to living out our purpose and core values with the highest level of integrity. We have a dedication to excellence and transparency, and are loyal to our community.

Restlessness

We're the people in the crowd and the people backstage. We are restless revolutionaries who celebrate individualism and strive to challenge normalcy in our industry & beyond, pushing meaningful innovation to make a positive impact.

Texas means “Friendship.”

Our Commitment to Give Back

Our roots are Texan, and Texans give back. As an AAPI and woman-owned business, we are committed to giving back to our local community, our friends in the music community, with the goal of helping the local music industry become a more sustainable and equitable landscape for all musicians and music industry professionals. We believe it’s important to not only support local businesses and organizations, from vendors to artists, but it’s also a priority for us to give back to Austin. We pledge to donate 10% of profits from our largest win each month to a local non-profit.

Our Focus on Social Equity

Black Lives Matter.

We acknowledge the inequities of our current society. It’s not enough to be “not racist.” By adopting an intersectional approach, our organization is actively anti-racism. Lessening the disparities, providing resources and education, and widening accessibility for marginalized populations such as Black, Latinx, LGTBQIA, immigrants, refugees, womxn, and the physically and/or mentally disabled is a large focus of our business.

Our Three Pillars

Social Pillar

We are artist-focused and will always actively seek opportunities to help local musicians by being active participants in the local music scene and contributing to causes that help local musicians and local businesses. Furthermore, as a minority- and woman-founded company, maintaining diversity and inclusion will always be a priority.

Economic Pillar

As free market participants, we recognize the importance of being a values-driven, ethical, and fair business, and we expect the same from all of our partners. We practice responsible capitalism and understand that the music industry ecosystem requires the highest level of ethics, transparency and integrity.

Service Pillar

Based in Texas, where "Friendship" is the state motto, we hope to inspire our passion for local business and music by maintaining world-class service and support to our customers, partners, and local artists. With a dedication to high standards, we hope to not only satisfy you and add value to your business, but delight you by being exceedingly helpful.

Meet Nat.

  • Named one of the Austin Chronicle's “20 of 2020,” SoundSync Music owner Nathalie Phan (see also: dog mom, bad tennis player) sees entrepreneurship as a responsibility as much as it is a privilege. As a values-oriented leader born and raised in Houston, she has made it her life's mission to put Texas musicians on the map. In 2015, while still a Digital Media Management student at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, she founded On Vinyl Media as an umbrella organization for her many creative ideas on building and sustaining a local music ecosystem and local music industry infrastructure. One of the businesses under this umbrella is SoundSync Music, a boutique sound design agency which licenses local music to both indie filmmakers and large production houses alike. In her official capacity, she has led and participated in workshops, panels, and university guest lectures on entrepreneurship and music licensing.

Nathalie is the Asian-American and 1st generation daughter of Vietnamese refugees. She has been on the boards of multiple equity-related music non-profits such as EQ Austin, Kids in a New Groove, and Girls Rock Austin and is known to advocate locally for musicians’ rights, specifically on equity-related topics.

Her greatest weakness is that she is a Houston Astros fan.
