Formed in late 2018, Glasshealer is an alternative band based out of Austin, TX. Made up of Hayden Steckel, Ernesto Grey, James Owens, and Jared Marxuach, each member contributes their unique musical backgrounds and passion for experimental music. Consistent throughout Glasshealer is their interest in experimenting with different genres and sounds. Fusing musical elements ranging from noise rock to electronica, the band looks to influences like Bjork, Radiohead, and Sigur Ros for inspiration. For Glasshealer, production is prioritized the same as song writing. With members experienced in audio engineering, they record, mix, and master independently.
In the spring of 2019, the band began playing live shows in the Austin area. At a Glasshealer show, it's not uncommon to see each member take on a different role throughout their performance, switching lead singers, guitarists, and drummers at ease. Their shows are a near seamless, electrifying experience that showcases non-conventional ways of playing live, such as looping vocals, intricate live sampling, and distinctive guitar textures. The band makes a point to emphasize these engaging aspects of their shows, while never losing sight of performing as a traditional rock band unit.
In early 2020, Glasshealer released their debut EP Cranberry Stream. It was placed in the Austin Chronicle’s best 100 local releases of the year. Since the start of the pandemic, the band has written enough material for a full length LP and is currently looking for a label to handle the release and distribution.
