Mamahawk, based in Austin, TX, has developed a unique blend of soulful pop rooted in groove-oriented production and warm vocal harmonies. Their new album, Brain Invaderz!, combines space-age grit and pop sophistication in a style reminiscent of D'Angelo, Tame Impala, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

"Technical proficiency too often ends up as a chain holding musicians back rather than pushing them further. All of the noodling in the world will never make up for mediocre songwriting. Thankfully there are artists like MAMAHAWK, who have technical chops, sure, but use them for pop bliss rather than for wankery." - OVRLD

MAMAHAWK

MAMAHAWK leans on their considerable songwriting chops to create complex arrangements consisting of both electronic and acoustic instruments. Simple rhythms, guitar licks, and the occasional horn blossom into layers of synthesizers that can bounce from pop to funk to dance music over the course of a single track.
